I took the Twitter profile descriptions of a bunch of people I follow and plugged them into Wordle, a free service that lets you create word clouds. This is what I ended up with:
Twitter says: Describe yourself in 160 characters or less. Distill the essence of you down into an avatar and a few pithy phrases.
But as we grow accustomed to talking about ourselves in brief, punchy phrases, does that change the way we treat ourselves?
Once you’ve described yourself in a certain way, do you feel pressured to fit the rest of your life into 160 characters or less? If you say you’re a minimalist, do you find yourself playing up your devotion to less stuff? If you say you’re passionate, do you censor yourself to hide exhaustion or frustration?
Do we write cages for ourselves?
